Al Minbar Institute
The Atlas Scholarship

What it is

The Atlas Scholarship exists to reward commitment to the Arabic language and to open our classrooms to students who could not otherwise sit in them. It is funded by the institute itself: no sponsor, no government program, no strings leading anywhere but here.

Named for Morocco's mountain ranges. Each session, awards are offered in three tiers, covering a fixed share of the program's standard tuition. Up to fifteen awards per session, on merit and at the committee's discretion: where a session's applications do not meet the standard, fewer are given. We would rather award eight scholarships well than fifteen by quota.

Three tiers, up to fifteen awards

The same structure applies to every session.

Award tierShare of tuition
Grand Atlasup to 2 per session100%
Middle Atlasup to 4 per session70%
Anti-Atlasup to 9 per session50%

The award covers program tuition, calculated on the session's published tuition: scholarships cannot be combined with any discount or promotion.

It does not cover accommodation, flights, meals, insurance, textbooks or personal costs. A Grand Atlas winner studies tuition-free and still budgets for life in Rabat: see accommodation and living costs on the Programs page. We say this plainly because a scholarship should be a door, not a surprise.

The award applies to four programs only: the Winter Session, the Spring Semester, the Summer Program and the Fall Semester. The extended (+) programs and the Academic Year are not scholarship-eligible.

You can build on it, though. Win an award for the Spring Semester and you may extend to Spring Semester+ by paying for the four additional weeks yourself; the same applies to Summer. The award covers its program in full, and anything beyond it is simply yours to add. Talk to us once your result is in and we will set it up.

Upcoming sessions

Four sessions a year. Applications close on each session's deadline; results reach every applicant before enrollment closes, so an unsuccessful applicant can still enroll normally.

Who can apply, and with what

Your application

  • Open to applicants between 18 and 45 years old, of any nationality, at any level from complete beginner to advanced.
  • The scholarship particularly suits university students and recent graduates, and it is not restricted to them.
  • A motivation letter is required: the heart of your application. Why Arabic, why now, why in Morocco, and what you will do with it. Write it yourself, in whichever language you write best.
  • Whatever supports it is recommended: a university transcript, a diploma, a CV, a certificate from previous language study, a letter from a teacher. Send what you have; applications backed by something concrete are stronger.
  • You are not penalized for what you don't have. A complete beginner who has never studied Arabic and a professional years out of university are both welcome here: send the evidence your own path has produced, and let the motivation letter carry the rest.

Conditions

  • Your application must arrive before the session's deadline.
  • A short placement test with our teachers completes your file.
  • Award holders enroll under the same terms as every student.
  • Results are communicated to every applicant before the session's enrollment period closes.
